An interview with one of our Chiropractic Assistants
28 February 2022
Our Chiropractic Assistants are the first people you see when you come into one of our clinics and the last you see when you leave. They hear the success stories of our patients, they hear their worries, and they see the differences in them over time.
We wanted to talk to one of our Chiropractic Assistants, Lynn, about her experience of chiropractic and what she has seen in clinic. Lynn is a long-standing Chiropractic Assistant in Willow, and has been with us for almost five years.
Here’s what Lynn said:
“Before joining Willow, my understanding of chiropractic and health was very limited. We had an Osteopath by the nursery I used to manage, but I thought Chiropractors and Osteopaths were the same thing.
I joined Willow in April 2017 and that’s when I started chiropractic care too. Since starting my own chiropractic journey and having regular care, I’ve noticed that it’s much easier to drive. I have more mobility when I’m turning my head to check my mirrors, and there’s no discomfort after long journeys. My migraines have reduced in number, and they pass much more quickly if I’ve had an adjustment.
I thought chiropractic was just for people who were already in pain or discomfort. Now, I can see how beneficial it is to start care young. I think a lot of people think we just fix back pain, but it’s so much more than that.
Your brain tells everything in your body what to do by sending signals through your nervous system. This could be getting your legs to walk, to making your heartbeat and your lungs breathe. Sometimes these messages can’t get through properly and aren’t interpreted clearly. This can cause things to not work as they should and often brings pain or discomfort. Pain is usually a much later sign that something is wrong. By making sure that you have your regular adjustments, you’re helping your body to work at its optimum level.
I hear daily about how our patients have finally been able to meet their goals, which they wouldn’t have ever thought was possible because they were “too old” or “not able to do that anymore”. They thought it would help them to get their mobility back, but they didn’t realise it would impact other aspects of their health. I see it change our patients’ lives daily; I love it when they tell me they’re happier now after chiropractic care.
One of my favourite things about chiropractic is when patients say that it has changed their lives. I think it’s fantastic that we have different generations of the same family come in to see us.
What I love about working for Willow is that I get to be in an environment where everyone is working towards making other people’s lives the best they can be.”
