What does a chiropractic adjustment do?

If you’ve never been to see a Chiropractor before, you might be wondering:
- How does chiropractic work?
- Does chiropractic help?
- What is chiropractic?
- What is a chiropractic adjustment and what does a chiropractic adjustment do?
Your lifestyle puts stress on your body. That could be emotionally, chemically, or physically. Your body is great at adapting to these stressors to restore everything back to its optimal function.
Take drinking alcohol as an example. Your liver removes the toxins so that it doesn’t cause stress on your body for too long. However, if you drink alcohol all day every day, your body will struggle to cope with this. You will be putting toxins into your body faster than it can get rid of them. They will start to build up and affect how your body functions. At this point, you are closer to dis-ease than you are health, so it’s likely that you will start to experience other problems, like pain.
What does a Chiropractor do?
Chiropractors find subluxations (blockages and interferences) in the spine. They then use adjustments to reduce and, over time, remove this build up in your nervous system. Your nervous system is made up of your brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
Interference from stressors stops the signals from the brain to the body, and the body to brain, from being interpreted correctly. This is why you develop pain.
What does a chiropractic adjustment do?
Adjustments help your body to heal better by reducing this interference in the nervous system. Signals can then be interpreted correctly and essential processes can work. With regular maintenance care, your body can start to solve the root cause that is causing your pain and problems. When your body fixes the causes, it makes it much less likely that it will cause you issues again. This is much better than just masking the pain with painkillers and not really solving anything.
When your Chiropractor adjusts your spine and releases the build up of tension, interference, and blockages, it mobilises the joints. Toxins are released into the body when the joints are mobilised. These have built up over time. Your body can then start to remove them and heal. This is why it’s so important to drink water after your adjustments to make sure you can flush out these toxins.
So, whilst people think that Chiropractors just ‘crack your back’, the power of the adjustments is incredible.
