In 2021, only 35% of people kept up with their New Year’s resolutions. We want you to achieve the goals that you set for yourself and make the most of 2022. How can you do this? Through positive daily habits.

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” – John C. Maxwell

People sacrifice what they want in the future for what they want at that moment. We live in a world where there is so much instant gratification, so when we have to wait to see the results we become impatient. We have to be patient to see changes that will last.

One of the things that separates high achievers from others is intention. If you get up everyday and just coast wherever events and situations take you, you’re not going to end up where you want to be. If you want to reach your goals and be living your dreams, you need to steer your own path by forming positive daily habits that will drive you to success.

How to change your daily habits

Humans are creatures of habit, we tend to wake up at the same time every day, brush our teeth, have our morning coffee, commute to work, and follow the same patterns every day. Look for patterns in your day and think about how you can use your existing habits to create new, positive ones.

For example, when you have your morning coffee, drink a glass of water alongside this, or when you’re brushing your teeth stand on one foot to practice balance. When you start practicing new habits, you need to have a way to measure, quantify, and track your progress. It helps you to see whether you are making progress or need to change direction.

It takes time for habits to form. A lot of the habits that you have now are developed over years and years of you doing them subconsciously. You probably don’t even realise that you’re doing them. The results you see from changing your daily habits will be long-term. Tracking how you are doing with them helps to give you some immediate feedback that you are on the right path.

This is where a daily habit tracker can help. It’s a simple way to measure whether you completed a habit on that day. Everyday that you stick to your routine, you tick the box next to the day. Over time the calendar shows the streak you have with doing your habits.

Habit tracking gives you a visual cue that reminds you to act every day, it’s motivating to see the progress you are making, and it feels satisfying to record your success in the moment.

Four rules for success
  1. State your goals

When you specify what you want to achieve, whether that’s a certain weight, being able to run three miles a day, or hitting a personal best in the gym, it will help you massively with sticking to your resolution.

  1. Keep a record of your progress

If you make a note of where you are at the start and measure your progress along the way, these feedback loops will be great for motivation. That’s why a habit tracker is so useful.

  1. Keep at it

We all have the occasional slip-up, it happens. We might forget to do one of our daily habits one day, but don’t let this be an excuse to give up. You need to carry on with your journey and be patient.

  1. Look after your body
