Experience the beauty of the Severn Estuary on this scenic walk through Clevedon. With stunning views and open levels, it’s a perfect mix of leisurely strolling and a touch of adventure. The route is mostly flat, making the first half ideal for a relaxed Sunday walk. The second half, which crosses fields, is better suited for those with sturdy footwear and a taste for exploration.

Getting Started

  • Map Reference: ST 399699
  • Parking: Park considerately on Strode Road.

Begin your walk by heading down and turning right onto a footpath alongside the Blind Yeo River. You’ll enjoy views of the Clevedon Golf Course across the river and picturesque Clevedon behind you.

Route Details

  1. Continue on the footpath until it branches off to the left onto a track.
  2. Follow the track through the golf course, emerging onto the seafront for breathtaking views of the Severn Estuary, including Steepholm, Flatholm, and distant landmarks like Cardiff and Chepstow.
  3. The track ends at a lane. Turn right and head south, passing fields filled with pastureland and hedgerow flora.
  4. After a sharp bend in the road, take the footpath on the left, just beyond a gate. Cross a bridge into a field.
  5. Navigate several fields using stiles, following the edge of a rhyne towards nearby farmhouses.
  6. Turn left after crossing another bridge and head north back towards Clevedon.
  7. Continue across fields and over stiles, following the hedge lines until you reach a farm track.
  8. Follow the track through a garden and back onto a lane. Turn right and cross a bridge to return to your starting point.
