We hear so many common misconceptions about chiropractic, and we understand that some of these myths might be stopping you from attending chiropractic care. That is why we wanted to take the time to bust four common myths that crop up most often.

We want you to be able to make an informed decision based on fact, not fiction, and come into our clinics filled with confidence that you’re in a safe, healing space.

Adjustments are dangerous

The fear around adjustments usually stem from the pops and clicks you may hear, it can be seen as really intimidating. However, they’re nothing to worry about. When the joints are moved apart, these pockets of gas collapse in on themselves, making a popping sound. Just like when your knuckles click or crack, it isn’t your bones rubbing against each other, it’s the release of these gases.

Chiropractic adjustments are safe when they are performed by a trained and registered Chiropractor. Our Chiropractors complete an in-depth consultation and medical history before any treatment is given to make sure that chiropractic care is what is best for you. We also have some of the best chiropractors in the country, attending regular training sessions, conferences and seminars with the best chiropractors in the world to ensure they are using the best and most up-to-date techniques available. Our results speak for themselves.

If our Chiropractors don’t believe that chiropractic care is suitable then they will always try to direct you to where else may be able to provide you with the help you need.

People can adjust themselves

We would never recommend adjusting yourself. You can increase the risk of injury by trying to adjust yourself. Our Chiropractors are trained to deliver a specific, controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint in order to get the most benefit out of the adjustment. You are so much better seeking professional chiropractic care with someone who is trained and qualified.

You need to hear a loud pop or crack for the adjustment to be effective

We can see why people might think that you need to hear the crack or pop because of the viral content that makes its way across social media. You don’t need to hear a pop or crack. You will still receive the benefit of the adjustment regardless of whether you hear anything or not. It’s about the controlled, sudden force that is applied to the joint, not about the sound that you may or may not hear.

You need to be in pain to see a Chiropractor

Whilst chiropractic has been proven to help with different types of pain, you don’t need to be in pain to see a Chiropractor. Pain is the final sign that your body is telling you that it’s struggling to cope. Getting your spine checked out is always important.

Going to see a Chiropractor before you’re in pain is a great healthy habit to develop. Chiropractic care helps your body to adapt to the stresses around you every day, for example sitting for long periods or being hunched over a smartphone.
