Nailsea Clinic: Get Better with Bands
06 July 2020
Resistance bands are an excellent piece of equipment to aid aches and pains or after an injury. The band helps add resistance to your motions, improving both your strength and flexibility without undue stress on the joints. They allow you to focus and work on specific parts of the body, potentially speeding up the process of rehabilitating joints and muscles and getting you back to doing the things you love in life.
Back Pain
Your posture and occupation play a huge role in avoiding or triggering upper back or neck pain. If you have a desk job or spend long hours sitting and typing, you’re more likely to develop aches and pains over the years. This happens when the shoulders start rounding, the head starts to travel forward and the upper back rounds. Exercising with resistance bands is an effective way to strengthen and stretch the back muscles. The band will allow you to use a natural force to strengthen the muscles, alleviating joint and muscle pain while lowering the chance of injury. You can do resistance band training from three times per week to six times per week depending upon your goals.
Shoulder Pain
Shoulders are the most movable joints in the human body, which makes them prone to injury and a very common health issue. Resistance bands are a low impact solution to help rehab and strengthen your shoulders, without the need for dumbbells or extra equipment. By incorporating these exercises into your traditional training session, you can strengthen your shoulders while simultaneously reducing shoulder pain. Shoulder rehab exercises help to improve the strength and function of the arm. The shoulder needs good strength and mobility so that the arm can move freely without any discomfort.
Hip and Glute Pain
Weak glutes mean weak extension, less power and overcompensation injuries. You can use resistance bands to rapidly activate your glutes and engage your hips through an array of lower body exercises. The goal is to stimulate legs, glutes and hip complex to strengthen and give the muscles extra attention, especially if you tend to sit for long periods. Using these bands will help you target all the areas of the glutes that are causing you pain and quickly get you on the road to recovery or prevention.
