The new year is already on its way, but have you thought about your new years resolutions? These different area’s assure you’re given a healthy, happy start!

Nutrition:

Healthy balanced diet

It’s important to have a healthy balanced diet. Where most of us fail, is that we don’t have enough fresh fruit and vegetables. We should be aiming for 7-8 portions of fresh fruit and veg a day. On top of this we should include a healthy balanced diet which would benefit your specific goal you wish to achieve in the new year.

Hydration:

Alongside nutrition, hydration is hugely important and often overlooked. For our bodies to function as efficiently as possible we need to keep our hydration levels well maintained. On average an adult should be drinking between 1.5 – 2 litres of water each day, aiding in normal and healthy organ function.

Exercise:

This doesn’t have to be at the gym! Try to find something which you really enjoy that raises your heart rate for more than 45mins 4-5 times a week. If you enjoy it and find friends to participate with you it helps keep you motivated to achieve your goals. Examples are walking, cycling, swimming, it really doesn’t matter what form of exercise you choose to partake in, as-long as you’re moving your body and enjoying it.

Sleep:

Many of us forget the importance of a good quality sleep, it almost becomes an annoyance to fit it into our lives. Sleep is the time that our bodies need to heal and repair from the stresses and strains of day to day life. By having enough sleep you’ll increase your immunity and keep your energy levels high, meaning you will be more productive in your waking hours.

Stress:

Most people suffer with stress at some point in their lives and unfortunately this is unavoidable. In fact, small amounts of stress over short periods of time can be good for us. However long periods of continued emotional stress can be detrimental for the body’s health. Very rarely do we take into consideration the impact that emotional stress can have on to our physical wellbeing – the outcome can be catastrophic if not addressed and dealt with. Stress causes the muscles in your body to tense inflaming and aggravating underlying injuries leading to headaches, muscular aches and pain. It also lowers our immunity making us more inclined to suffer with illnesses such as coughs and colds and is one of the factors resulting in high blood pressure.

Chiropractic:

Probably the least well known on this list and that’s Chiropractic. Chiropractic treatment has many benefits. Firstly, it can help speed up healing and offer pain relief for sustained musculoskeletal injuries, therefore getting you back to normal life as quickly as possible without the risk of aggravating your complaint. In our modern society, many of us are guilty of spending too much time sat down. This puts unnatural stress on our spines causing problems with the joints. Chiropractic treatment restores motion in the joints to help correct poor posture and restore full range of motion. By maintaining full range of motion within the spinal joints you also encourage the nervous system to work at its full potential therefore enabling your body to perform at its optimum.

Follow these six steps to become happier, healthier and optimize your bodies potential. Will this be the year you achieve your secured health and well-being?
